You're quite right, Nicole, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I find Zhang Zi Yi not very pretty, but she's a wonderful actress, her inner emotions always visible on her face, no words necessary.

And we've got another example of these different beauty ideals living here:
Gong Li-lookalike Queenie behind the bar in B&B.

As they're trying to boost the bar's business, keeping it open till 2pm on weekends, Queenie might attract quite a few Westerners, despite being married to the new B&B owner (I think).

Like last year, Holiday Mood is offering takeaway stuffed and roasted whole turkeys. We ordered one last year and loved it. We've ordered another one this year, sharing it with friends on Christmas Day.

About $328 for ten pounds, a few dollars more for more pounds. Much cheaper than in town.

Preorder it now and let them know the approximate pick-up time and it'll be hot and ready to carve and eat. Definitely easier than roasting it at home...

Would you believe it, 5 years of Holiday Mood under Ricky & Jenny's leadership already. To celebrate, they put on one of their low-cost buffets, all you can eat and drink for $88 only.

No more buffets for me for the rest of my life - even regular set meals are at least 3-4 times more than I can physically eat in one sitting - so I'll have to skip this buffet myself, but I might stop by to take a few pictures.

And Ricky promised to refrain from ultraloud Karaoke singing during this anniversary!

We eat there all the time. Holiday mood is quite nice. We always get the same thing; Broccoli with garlic, spicey fried sqiuid and steamed Garouper. The food is always good and both Ricky and Shirley make a great effort to make sure we enjoy our evening. Also, they will make any type of changes you want to the preparation (less salt, more garlic, spicier, etc.). We would recommend Holiday Mood to anybody.

New Holiday Mood Restaurant today, closed, no more signage and being renovated, to be reopened by a new owner, rumoured to become another vegetarian place?

But why did it close down? Friendly former owner Ricky only mentioned something about "Lamma Heartbreak Island" but was not in a sober enough state to be interviewed when I saw him last a few days ago. I'll be missing him and his cheerful place....
