Zippy {L_WROTE}:
A very relevant post there LG - well done in your ceaseless quest to highlight the ongoing changes in the local restaurants.
Now back to the poll :
Can I suggest
"is budhaboyjp
a) a pretentious twat
b) a valid contributor who has led to the re-evaluation of this once favourite local eatery
Remember YOUR vote counts
I vote b!
My point simply, though so confusingly mis-communicated by yours truely, is my prejudice, not racism when it comes to our 2nd favorite past time, with sex being the 1st.
I would prefer to eat French food prepared by a native French person, who has grown and lived in France, learned to cook from their mama or grandma, and been to some of the cooking schools, as compared to a Japanese chief who trained in France for a few years and opens a rest. in Jp. Granted, the food may very well be scrumpcious, but I will take the native French over the Jp chief any day of the week for authentic French food.
is this not what you want to eat? Authentic cuisine?.
Sorry, it is just my preference. Did not mean to step on anyone's toes.
I have noticed recently in the U.S. and from what my fiancee (HK native) has to tell me about Jp rest. in HK, they are primarily Thai owners and chiefs. I do not know why that is, and find it to be an interesting phenomenon.
She also tells me she prefers the HK food more then here in Jp, though from what I understand, you people have all of it. I cannot say from experience which place would be better for world cuisines, N.Y. or HK.
I have also seen advertisements of Jp. rest. in HK from the magazines she brings me, and sorry to say this, but they just do not make sushi so glamorous here. Jp. food is very simple without the glittering gold and what not.
Lastly, next time you eat your sushi, pls ask them for 'Sashimi Shoyu' which is a much sweeter soya sauce, created for eating sushi and sashimi.
