However, they are still listed in the Team Entry of the festival.
Their letter of complaint to the HKDBA can be found here (in pdf format).

{L_QUOTE}:
"31 May 2007 - The Liechtenstein Princely Navy withdraws from the Hong Kong International Races

The Admiralty of the Liechtenstein Princely Navy has decided not to participate at this year's International Races due to the unacceptable treatment received from the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association (HKDBA)."

This appears to be a commendable decision by the HKDBA. These tools should stay where they belong at Truman Show HQ.

You're confusing the two International Dragon Boat Festivals here. The one next weekend on Power Station beach is a first-time-ever event run by the Lamma Dragons and friends.

The longstanding event in Tsim Sha Tsui (moved back there from Shatin where it ran in the Shing Mun river for several years) is run by the HK Dragon Boat Association and has nothing to do with the Lamma event.

Many teams have been complaining about the HKDBA over the years, for many reasons. Ask most Lamma Dragonboaters about them and see their faces turn a reddish colour...

P.S. So the Liechtenstein Princely Navy is a DbAY team? How will they survive the culture shock of competing on Lamma?
They're coming to the Lamma event, but won't participate in the usually very messy HKDBA event off Tsim Sha Tsui. The Lamma Dragons haven't decided yet to participate or not, as far as I know. Every year they're heard swearing "Never again!", but they still compete in this most high-profile event (TV coverage, internationally promoted).

Thanks for explaining that. I was just confused by the phrase "withdraws from the Hong Kong International Races" and the fact that the race on sunday is international, somehow.

I think they will. This is what it's all about. But after a frequenty held "Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival" got more press coverage than the "remote HK races", they'll probably won't care anymore.
