yep, they have been back for a couple of months now. we have what seems to be the same two as last year. my dogs are becoming a bit more tolerant and barking less.
last year we had some top police guy come up to our house to have a look around. he had been asked to come up by the man that lives in front of us who is a very well-connected local chinese that farms all of the land surrounding my house. anyhow, this guy said that there had been quite a few complaints from the local chinese from where i live in tai wan to to mo tat wan and sok kwu wan. then he said something about a hunting party coming from sai kung. at this point i kind of lost it, the idea of local clowns running around with guns hunting down wild boars. in my garden? i had to leave and go in the house and let my husband continue the conversation. the guy ended up coming up to our house (we had been speaking from our patio down to the path) and more or less told us that we were expats and did not have much say. surprise. the locals were upset and if necessary, they would do what was needed. at that point i asked that he at least let me know if when and where a hunting party would be coming to lamma to hunt the boars.
i have come face to face with the boars. they are more scared of me than i am of them. i have also seen the damage they do digging up the tuberous roots. if i had a farm, i would not be too happy having them dig it up. i can sympathize with the farmers but i really like having wild boars hanging out around my house.
