Great to see you back in action again - some fantastic shots, especially the Mugimaki, which is a very uncommon visitor to these parts. You have shamed me into trying to get something too, so here is another flycatcher. I would like to think it is a dark-sided flycatcher, and if so it would be a first for photos on Lamma, I think. It might just be a grey-streaked, though.

Hi Zep.... not sure... I guess we'll leave it to the experts in HKBWS.
Even if the bird doesn't turn out to be your much-prized Dark-sided.... think you should be well pleased with the perch........ definitely not very common.

The Asian Brown Flycatcher again in different light.... she visits several times each day to bathe & drink....

Yes, the HKBWS's Fai Ho Cheung identified it - not the same individual as your bird, I presume, as mine was in the garden in Tai Peng. This is Muscicapa sibirica. It is a bit confusing, as there is another totally unrelated African species which goes by the name of sooty flycatcher. I guess dark-sided or Siberian would be a better name.

So, trebles all round...

hmmmm .... Paul ID'd mine for me as a Sooty, then checking in the HK Bird Book calls it the Sooty (Dark-sided / Siberian) Flycatcher Muscicapa sibirica (sibirica)

I'm happy with either...... congrats again.
Means today I had the Mugimaki (female), the Asian Brown, and the Dark-sided, and last week the Mugimaki (male) visit my garden.... guess it's getting on the Flycatcher map
