The new police station has only one small window on the north-facing side, strategically located in the centre of the wall. That's the main side facing the harbour and Yung Shue Wan. Perhaps they modeled it on the HK Cultural Centre. Presumably they don't want us to be able to see into the station - might upset their card playing and mahjong activities ...

Police stations in HK have traditionally been built like blockhouses or forts in hostile territory.

High walls, watchtowers, small windows, barb wire.

I saw the plans last year and wondered about this, too. I was teasing the former police chief last year about why he won't have a great harbour view from his future office. He explained that the armoury will be on that side, where they keep the weapons and dangerous stuff, so no windows allowed.

They'll have great views from their beachfront garden, but not quite as amazing as the amazing views high over Cheung Chau bay from the huge garden with mature trees outside their Cheung Chau HQ.

The new police station was supposed to open publicly this month, as our new police chief, Joyce, told me at the Lunar New Year festival in the YSW Plaza. Delayed as expected, but I'll get an update from her soon. There were several nice colour choices proposed for the station in their artist's impressions, but I assume they went with something grey.
