When I lived on Lamma, I knew almost every dog by name. A trip to the village, I would stop and talk to everyone of them. I myself had 5 dogs. 2 -- Boy-boy the doberman and Mui-mui the dalmation -- moved to Lamma with me. Then I rescue Puppy and 2 other pups out of the garbage when they were a few days old. One did not survived. Eamon and Kate adopted the other one and I kept Puppy. One Christmas, I adopted Lucky from a Chinese family with many kids. The father was an alcoholic and one time when he was drunk, he hurt the poor dog with an axe. The kids would put drag the dog along only holding onto one of her backlegs. My last couple of years on Lamma, when I was living in what now know as GAIA Valley, the farmer in the next valley called me up one day and asked if I could take his dog. "He has been chasing and killing my cats. If you don't take him, I will just have to kill it myself." He said. Guess what happened? Next thing I know, that dog, I named Ah Choy, was under my roof. Not long after I had taken him in, I found him a home in a garage in the New Territories. He was the leader of the pack for a long time.
While Mui-mui and Boy-boy had moved to Canada with me and have passed away a couple of years ago, Puppy and Lucky stayed behind when I left Lamma and lived with Bobsy who took over my lease. Puppy passed away peacefully in her sleep back a few years ago. I believe Lucky is still around. She is that timid little dog who tagged along wherever Bobsy goes.
Well, that's the story of my dogs. I also have some favourite dogs on the Island: Morrison(Squinty John's), Harold(Lisa John's). If you remember these 2 pups, you have lived on Lamma for TOO long
