Why don't you shut up now with your irrelevant bullshit, it's become quite tiresome.
Fair enough if you have a sensible point to make but boasts about your mates award in the philipines has nothing to do with this.
This Article he writes about the Rich on the Philippines paying 12 times more for blasting CO2 into the Air with there Air-conditions as they pay there Staff. It reminds me of Lamma and the Brainwash and Misinformation you try to set the Lammaites up regarding Supertanker the unhealthy housing here, dirty Water and the Coal Power Station only to have them supporting an Idea which is unsustainable. It only keeps the People of Lamma nicely under control, instead of solving the Problem of poor housing, poor working places and the reintroduction of the old cultures and agriculture to the islands in the South China See. Why can't the People who live here not see the beauty of the place as it was before the Colonialist started robbing it?
You point to some connection between an apparent situation of injustice in the Phillipines and some claims you are suggesting about injustices here on Lamma Island.
The first problem for me in understanding your ideas ewald, is that I cannot understand the connection. Either you have not supplied enough background explanation or, as it appears to me on the surface - the connection is unjustified - resulting from unclear thinking on your part or from deliberate prevarication in support of a position without concern for logical connection / justification of verifiable truths.
Furthermore, you put forward claims about a number of 'problems' on Lamma without explaining, supporting, or justifying them.
What problem of poor housing?
What misinformation about supertankers?
What misinformation about the power station? (I've no vested interest in supporting the power station but I fail to see what misinformation you are referring to. Perhaps you disagree with claims made regarding the use of fuel in the plant as detailed in Lamma Gung's post? Then clearly lay out your objections in grammatically understandable English supported by reliable and confirmable data.
How do you see Lammaites being controlled? By whom and for what purpose? I'm not arguing with you - I think there is a lot more hidden control in our societies than we realise - but it's not helpful to your reader to make a claim like this without an explanation.
What do you mean by "reintroduction of the old cultures and agriculture to the islands in the South China See"? Do you see this as a problem or as something desirable? Has it happened? Is it happening? Is it going to happen? Do you want it to happen?
Regarding your lament: "Why can't the People who live here not see the beauty of the place as it was before the Colonialist started robbing it?"
Colonialism has been shown to clearly be responsible for injustice and violence in many regions of the world and I'm certain that Hong Kong ought to be included. But what exactly do you mean here? It is a poor form of argument to use the reputation of colonialism in general without specific justification in adhoc opposition to whomever you would like to label as outsiders. What beauty, in particular, has Lamma been robbed of by colonialists? I suspect you are on shaky ground here. I dont think colonialist had much interest in Lamma Island. Besides, which colonialists are you referring to? Are you referring to the Chinese who colonized this region dislocating preexisting indigenous communities? Or are you referring to the British? What historical period do you refer to? Is is something that you see happening at present? If so, who are the 'players' in this colonial drama?
Are you aware that Lamma Island was almost completely deforested not so many years ago? Who was responsible for that deforestation? Who has been replanting the forests in recent decades?
You waste your own time in writing if your writing or thinking is so unclear that your readers can't understand you. And you are getting a lot of confirmation from your readers that your messages are unintelligible to them. If I am getting a lot of similar messages about something I'm doing from a variety of sources then I must stop and ask myself if it is really true that all of them are wrong and I am the only one who is right. (It could be - but much more likely I have to see what it is that I am doing wrong)
ewald, the impression I have from actually trying to understand some of your posts is that you are just trying to create dissension.
Are you deliberately trying to stir up problems and negativity? It seems to me (and I may be wrong) that you are. It is a tactic used by dishonest businessmen and politicians to create divisions within communities that they wish to control. Divide and conquer. Create confusion - build up intergroup or interacial tensions that were never really there in the first place. Or if they were there - were managemebal and could just as easily have been healed. This is the sort of thing that happened in Rwanda and many other places.
Do you have some interest in trying to create and build up some kind of division in the community between groups that are perceived is generally opposed to large scale residential development on Lamma Island and groups that you perceive to be cultivatable in support for development?
